She says her shop is a place to rediscover the Art of Living in the 18th-century around the daily activities of the Boudoir. Carla works with craftsmen who recreate 18th century art and she also sells both antiques and newly created classical elements that may have been found in Marie Antoinette's boudoir. Commission portraits of your favorite dog, in an 18th century spirit, are but one of the many possibilities of artwork she can also create for you. i live in beijing, china (but am originally from montreal) ... i lived in paris for 3 years before coming here and lived next door (almost) to "le boudoir et sa philosophie" - great shop!

hutongs are definitely disappearing indeed, sadly, but there are some neihgborhoods that have been preserved and some house very cute shops!
yes tea houses, ceramic shops, accessories, furniture, etc... beijing is changing every day at an incredible pace but when you know where to look, there is still some traditionnal charm left...
